广东卫生厅成立专项小组调查这对用人工受精通过代孕行为生下八胞胎的富商夫妇。

文中的octuplets就是指八胞胎；surrogate mothers就是指代孕妈妈，surrogate就是指替代的 ；in vitro fertilization就是指体外受精，人工受精。

卫生部在2001年发布《人类辅助生殖技术管理方法》，明确禁止推行gestational surrogacy（妊娠代孕技术）,也就是说，surrogacy（代孕）在国内不合法，医疗机构和大夫不可以推行代孕技术。

广东卫生厅决定，中止广东human assisted reproductive technology（人类辅助生殖技术）服务机构的审批，同时对已经获得行政许可拓展人类辅助生殖技术服务的38所医疗机构进行一次专项检查，重点检查医疗机构是不是拓展交易gamet、zygot等违规行为，一经查实，严格根据有关法律法规严肃处置。
